Investment bank Bpifrance is funding U.S.-based enterprise quantum software and services company QC Ware $1.5 million to support the adoption of quantum computing.

Some of the funding will be used to develop two new quantum software application programming interfaces (API) for deep learning and finance. An API lets two computing applications exchange data in a readable way. The APIs are to be integrated into QC Ware's Forge quantum-as-a-service platform.

The remaining money is aimed at hiring 10 new employees for QC Ware's Paris office over the next three years, supporting Europe’s growing quantum ecosystem.

“Quantum computing promises to revolutionize the future of information technology,” said Iordanis Kerenidis, head of quantum algorithms at QC Ware. “With this new funding, we plan to continue growing the quantum software ecosystem and fuel our mission to help companies around the world prepare for the upcoming quantum disruption.”

QC Ware is working with Aisin Group, Airbus, the U.S. Air

Force Research Laboratory, BMW Group, Equinor, Goldman Sachs and Total to design practical algorithms to be performed on emerging quantum computing hardware.

The company is partnering on algorithms that support chemistry simulations, materials discovery and drug design to work on near-term quantum computing hardware.
