Siemens AI Vision Software Powers Warehouse Automation Project

Siemens, Universal Robots and Zivid are partnering to create a warehouse automation solution that will address the challenges of intra-logistics fulfillment tasks in a move the companies describe as “groundbreaking”.

The partners aim to build a solution to automate the picking and packing of items in a warehouse, at a high enough level to distinguish between different opacities, shapes and sizes.

To achieve this, the partners will integrate Siemens’ learning-based vision software, SIMATIC Robot Pick AI with Universal Robots' robot UR20, which is designed for heavy lifting and carrying tasks. 

Zivid’s 3D sensor will add its ability to image anything including transparent and translucent items.

The solution will be presented in depth for the first time on April 4 at a webinar hosted by the trio.
