Terra Quantum, MegazoneCloud Bring Cloud Quantum to South Korea

Quantum-as-a-service company Terra Quantum has partnered with cloud services startup MegazoneCloud to build quantum computing algorithms and applications in the cloud.  

Together they aim to support quantum computing innovation via cloud-based services for public and private sectors in Asian markets. The initiatives the companies are targeting include smart city projects, financial services, manufacturing and weather forecasting.

South Korea has set strong ambitions to establish itself as a key player in global quantum innovation.

Last year, the Ministry of Science and ICT last year announced an investment of $2.3 billion in quantum science and technology, aiming to become the world’s fourth-largest powerhouse in the sector by 2035. This position is currently held by the U.K., with the U.S., Germany and China ranking higher.

In February, the South Korean government announced plans to launch quantum cloud services in the second half of 2024 and commence urban air mobility test flights in August.
